Cooking Craze Camporee

Here are the specifics you will need to keep in mind for the weekend:

 
Meals
  • Troops are to provide their own meals during the weekend.
  • Saturday Night’s “Community Meal”
    • Each Troop is to provide some type of food item for the group dinner. 
    • Please refrain from using any type of nuts to eliminate the risk of food allergies. 
    • The idea, or goal, behind this activity is for scouts to use the cooking techniques they learned throughout the day to prepare a meal together. 
    • The meal is to be prepared by each troop during the afternoon “prep” period. Then the meal is to be brought to the community dinner to wrap up the day. 
    • The OA will be helping to organize the dinner and will be the food judges.
    • Plates, silverware, water/bug juice, and plates will be provided. 
    • Note:  Plan to prepare a dish, or number of dishes, that would comfortably feed ONLY your troop.  That way, when all troops combine at the dinner, there should be enough for all to share, but not so much that we have tons left over. Remember, desert will be provided from the Iron Chef competition. 

****Please display any possible food allergies that might be present in the food you prepare.****

  • Cooking demo’s Saturday afternoon will be providing food samples, etc. It may be wise to prepare a lighter lunch on Saturday; however, a full course lunch will NOT be provided at the demonstration stations. 
Blue Cards
  • Please prepare blue cards for any scouts working to achieve the Cooking Merit Badge at camp.  They will need to take their blue cards to the stations with them where the instructors will sign off on the particular requirements. 
 
Saturday Morning Stations/Activities  
  • Troops will be divided into groups at opening ceremony and rotate throughout these morning stations. 
  • Iron Scout Competition
    • Each Troop is to select 2 scouts to compete in this competition. (Leaders can choose or scouts can vote)
    • Scouts will report to the competition station and be paired with others to compete in the Iron Scout competition. 
    • They will be provided a “mystery” desert to make for the group dinner. The desert will be judged at the group dinner. 
    • Ingredients, cooking utensils/equipment, and fire source, will all be provided at this station.  Scout’s just need to show up ready to cook!
