2019 Cub Scout Day Camp Details

Why Attend?

Going to camp is a wonderful part of Cub Scouting!  Day Camp is open to all registered Cub Scouts, (including Kindergarten graduates), and will offer unforgettable outdoor activities ranging from shooting sports to science!

Dates & Times

  • Gilpin Leechburg Park (Week 1)— Monday July  16  thru Thursday July 19 from 8:30am to 4:00pm
  • Camp Agawam (Week 2) — Monday July 23 thru Thursday July 26 from 8:30am to 4:00pm


Transportation

Buses will be available for the Camp Agawam Day Camp (week 2). Campers can sign up to ride Bus A at the Butler Target or Bus B at Cardinal Wuerl Catholic School. Both busses depart at 7:30 am and return by 4:45 pm.

 

No buses are available for the Glipin-Leechburg Camp (week 1).

Fees

Cost of Camp is $140 per Scout.  $30 depoist due by April 12.

$30 Early Bird discount to Scouts registered by April 12!

Cost of camp with discount will be $110 only if the camp deposit is paid by April 12 and balance paid in full by May 10.

Campership Applications

The Moraine Trails Council beleves that every Scout should take part in a summer camp experiance regardless of economic hardship. Partial Camperships are avalable to families in need. Campership applications may be downloaded here. Applications must be receved no later than March 2, 2018 to be considered.

Additional Discounts

  • Any  BSA leader/parent (that is fully registered with BSA) that signs up to be a walker for our day camp, for the entire duration of camp will receive an additional $30 discount on their scout’s registration.  A Walker is a Fully Registered parent/leader with BSA who agrees to supervise a group of Scouts during the entire duration of camp.
  • Volunteers and Leaders who serve on Staff for all four days will not pay any fees (free) for their own scout. Anyone interested in being on staff must apply to the Camp Director Amy Kamis
     
  • Note: all walkers and staff members must be registered with the Boy Scouts of America.

Adult Leadership

It is recommended that Packs have at least one registered adult leader attend camp for every five to six Cub Scouts. The minimum number of adults is two - both of whom must be registered, have completed Youth Protection Training and submitted Act 15 paperwork.

Visitors

Parents / guardians who are not registered with the BSA can visit camp with their child at anytime, but in accordance with PA law, they can not supervise any group of Scouts at camp, and therefore can not receive a $30 discount on their scouts Registration fee.

All visiting parents/ guardians are required to sign in and out of our camps visitor log, every time they visit our camp.

Health Forms

Everyone must complete parts A and B of the Annual Health and Medical Record and bring them to camp.

Program

Each day at camp, Scouts will spend their time doing the kinds of things young boys love to do including shoot BB guns and bows and arrows; cook out; sing songs; learn about nature; make crafts; and play games.  

And yes, of course we’ll be working on Badges and Belt Loops! Each Scout will earn at least 3 belt loops!

Food

  • An afternoon snack will be provided for campers; they should bring a non-perishable lunch as there are no food preparation facilities at Gilpin-Leechburg #1. 
  • Lunch will be provided for all campers at Camp Agawam #2.

Trading Post

A Trading Post is available at camp from which souvenirs can be purchased. Your pack can preorder items for adults and Den Chiefs, but it is not required.
